The Talk of Tankerton

Welcome to Tankerton-on-Sea

Home of The Talk of Tankerton

Set on the north Kent coast just minutes away from the main town of Whitstable and seven miles from the beautiful city of Canterbury, Tankerton is Kent’s best kept secret to explore and enjoy.

Tankerton High Street is a vibrant retail and hospitality destination just a few minutes’ walk away from the main seafront area with an array of independent shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and of course traditional Fish and Chips for that great seaside experience.

We have a beautiful coastline with stunning views across the Thames estuary out into the North Sea, a Blue Flag award beach, and wide-open green spaces for the whole family to enjoy. It even has its own Castle! Formerly Tankerton Towers, Whitstable Castle is located at the top of the hill, with beautiful gardens, a unique children’s play area and views across to the harbour – it is a visit not to be missed.

This very popular destination is an ideal weekend retreat location to refuel deflated batteries in one of the many amazing air B&B’s available or a stay at the stunning Marine Hotel with rooms overlooking the sea, a great place to watch wonderful sunsets as famously painted by Turner from you own private balcony.

Blow away the cobwebs with a brisk walk along the seafront, at low tide there is an opportunity to get a unique view of Tankerton-on-Sea literally from the sea as you walk along the shingle spit at low tide taking you almost a mile out from the promenade..

The Talk of Tankerton is a not for profit business and community group who organise events and improvement projects in and around Tankerton High Street. The group was formed in 2015 by two local businesswomen Julie and Helen, it has grown in strength since then and continues to do so, working tirelessly for the businesses and community.
